Today was interesting.  Seems I can't visit home without some sort of interesting debacle.

Last visit it was a very close call with a car while riding my bike where I found myself slightly underneath the car.
This time it was a attempt to rescue a mouse my cat was carrying in its mouth.

Back in Oberlin tomorrow (Sunday) night.

So, went pretty much as expected.  Easier, actually (but it was the first day, so I was on a fairly mindless task).  If I know you and you are a sophomore (rising junior), I probably filed things in your file.  If I don't know you and you're a sophomore, I probably filed things in your file.

Also, people have some funny names.  Really, who makes their kid's name rhyme?

I like the people I work with, or around, though I am by myself most of the day.  I do think I'm rather a fan of the combination of filing solitude for half the day, and company for half the day (which is about how it works out).

There is only one other guy working the files downstairs.  He comes in for the first half of the day usually.  He's a voice major in the con, and fits the stereotype rather well.  This is not to say that I dislike the stereotype.  His singing in the background amuses me, and he was really nice to me when I didn't know what I was doing and probably looked rather idiotic.

Also, there are three other folks in the room next door who are sort of my bosses (at least two of them are, I think, er....I'm not sure exactly).  One lady named Kay is particularly cool.  She is a mom of two boys (six and one).  We ran into each other and she sort of mandated me to take a break from work to come sit and chat with her for a while.  It was nice.

I have a feeling I will be drinking a lot more coffee as a part of this job.

Also, got home from work, was so tired I slept until now.  My sleep schedule will be forever screwy.  Oh well, it keeps me amused and keeps things interesting.

P.S.
Dear bike co-op,
I love you.   You teach me how to fix my bike for myself.  Please figure out this charter business so you can open up your greasy pearly gates and let me in.

I am excited to do some many cool things this summer.  I just really hope I get a job and get to go to California for at least a little while.

This morning I said goodbye to the "One Big Bike Movement" folk.
Shaved: Lindon, John Sidall, Sarah Thompson.  Success!  Bald People!  Celeste is next and maybe Darin.

Ate Ben's pancakes made by the fabulous cook Celeste (actually, for both breakfast and dinner- they were delicious).
Staying up all night to say goodbye to say goodbye to these kids had one other added benefit- Ben’s snowshoes are now in my possession. Success!

Katie- don't die, I would be sad and your mom would be right.  You can't let her be right.
Also, remember to, you know, eat food and SLEEEP.  end of lecture.

I really want Yitka to teach me all the Dutch she knows this summer.  Starting by translating the "I love you" book...a sex ed. book for preschoolers in Dutch.  I want come up with cool fun Spanish lessons that I can try out on her and others to return the favor.

I really need to unpack my room...it’s driving me a little crazy...but it is not yet at clean or die level, so I think I’ll wait a while.

Laura T.G.'s unicycle has made my summer.  I have been practicing almost everyday.  Yesterday I practiced while holding onto a bike rack outside in the rain.  I love it; I forgot that all hobbies don't have to be intellectual to be worthwhile.  This was a nice reminder.   Thank you unicycle.
It has a flat.  I hope to god it can be patched.  If not, anybody know of a website where I can go to get replacement unicycle tires?

Have been spending a lot of time at the Pia/Erica/Ivy/Yitka/Greg house that will soon be the ari/greer/emma/etc. house.  Thank you kids for feeding me and taking care of turtle.   Hoping she can stay in that house or go home with Ivy.

Been going through old poetry from high school.  Trying to decide how much is crap and how much is potentially salvageable.

P.S. every time I look at Grey's art in my room it makes me smile.  Despite the fact that it wasn't intended for me, thank you Grey.
P.P.S. I am now a...well...i'm not sure, second cousin?  and my mom is now a great aunt.  my cousin had a baby girl.
