So I finally started this Oberlin history project. I've been going through the Archive's photos and reading all the captions to figuring out a starting point for how to go about my research.
Here are some interesting pictures I found:

The early days at the five and dime.

On the left, former Oberlin athletics director with family and
really sweet bicycle. Why is the bike co-op not making these?

Allen Ginsberg reads some of his poetry at the co-op
bookstore.

Amusing add from the back of a yearbook.

She kind of looks like she is ready
to get married and is trying to
decide which man is worthy of her.

Mock Convention, outside hall in the 70's I believe. Live
elephants.
Also, I am sort of curious if the school is going to do something (more than just planting a tree in honor of the founders) for the 175th anniversary (this year). Personally,
I suggest re-enactments of some of a handful of interesting Oberlin historical moment throughout the week and alumni who so chooses coming in to tell interesting stories from their time here. Also, they should end the week with fireworks or a bonfire in tappan. Just my suggestion.
Will keep you posted as research continues.
